CAIR-CA Political Action Committee (CAIR-CA PAC) endorses Barbara Lee in Senate race, citing ceasefire stance

CAIR-CA PAC: “Californians deserve a leader who is not afraid to say no to war and racism”

LOS ANGELES, CA — Today, CAIR-CA PAC, the political action committee for California’s Council on Islamic Relations, announced their strong endorsement of Congresswoman Barbara Lee’s campaign for U.S. Senate, noting her strong, consistent advocacy for equity, justice, and global peace and security throughout her career. CAIR-CA PAC’s 2024 cycle endorsements, included in their local voter guides, are focused on candidates who advocate for an end to violence..

“Barbara Lee has always courageously stood for peace and human rights for all people. Californians deserve a leader who is not afraid to say no to war and racism,” said Yousuf Bhaghani, CAIR-CA PAC President. “With Barbara in the US Senate, the voice of justice and peace seeking Americans will be well represented. For that, CAIR-CA PAC proudly endorses Barbara Lee.”

The grassroots civil rights and advocacy group’s endorsement follows the final debate between the top U.S. Senate candidates, where Lee continued to stand as the sole candidate calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. Lee also emphasized her record of leadership to slash defense spending and instead allocate resources into development, diplomacy, and domestic priorities such as affordable housing and healthcare.

“The United States needs to lead in seeking a peaceful world — our futures all depend on it,” said Congresswoman Lee. “CAIR-CA PAC is a powerful partner in this collective goal, mobilizing our American Muslim community to participate in our political process and strive towards justice and equity. I’m proud to receive their endorsement, and will continue to call for an end to endless wars in the U.S. Senate.””
