Black Church PAC endorses Barbara Lee for U.S. Senate

“A decades-long champion for human rights and economic justice, her voice is needed in the U.S. Senate now more than ever”

OAKLAND, CA — Today, the Black Church PAC proudly declared their endorsement of Barbara Lee for U.S. Senate. Black Church PAC, a coalition of faith leaders working to advance policies that strengthen Black communities, cited Congresswoman Lee’s courageous and continued advocacy on key issues for Black Californians, including economic justice and human rights.

“Barbara Lee is a proven leader with a record of uplifting marginalized communities,” said Rev. Dr. Jacquelyn Thompson. “Her experience, moral courage and compassion make her the trusted choice for Senate. I proudly support Black Church PAC’s endorsement.”

“The Black Church PAC enthusiastically endorses Barbara Lee for the US Senate,” said Bishop Leah Daughtry. “A decades-long champion for human rights and economic justice, her voice is needed in the U.S. Senate now more than ever. Her principled and values-based governance record on issues of poverty, pressing domestic and foreign policy matters and racial justice set her apart from all candidates in the field.”

Founded in 2021, the Black Church PAC has effectively mobilized faith communities in California and nationwide to elect representatives committed to social, racial, and economic justice, including through initiatives like Faith Leaders For Ceasefire, a mass call from religious leaders for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. Lee is the only candidate running for Senate in California who has called for an unconditional, immediate ceasefire in the region.

“We encourage all people of faith and good will to affirm ‘Barbara Lee speaks for me’, and vote for her as our democratic candidate for the US Senate,” said Pastor Michael McBride.

“My life has been underlined by a fight for equity and justice for communities that haven’t always had a seat at the table — and the conviction to continue that fight has been reinforced by the words and wisdom of faith leaders,” said Congresswoman Barbara Lee. “Receiving the support of the leaders in the Black Church PAC, who advocate for the needs of their communities and greater humanity, means the world. In the Senate, I will champion their fights for racial equality, voting rights, healthcare, and an end to endless wars.”

The PAC’s announcement comes on the heels of Rep. Lee unveiling her policy plan for affordability and tackling economic inequality. Lee promised to fight for increased wages, home ownership programs, affordable housing, renters rights, and expanding services and care to address homelessness.
