Following LGBTQ+ forum, Barbara Lee endorsed by statewide LGBTQ+ Latino PAC

HONOR PAC: “Empowering Latino/a/e LGBTQ+ voices is not just a mission—it’s a necessity”

LOS ANGELES, CA — Today, HONOR PAC, a leading political voice for California’s Latino LGBTQ+ communities, announced their endorsement of congresswoman and leading progressive candidate for Senate, Barbara Lee. The endorsement follows last weekend’s Equality California candidate forum, where Lee outlined her progressive record, including leading a bipartisan coalition to pass PEPFAR, a groundbreaking HIV/AIDS legislative package that has saved 25 million lives to date, and her plans to further advance equity and justice for LGBTQ+ Californians as Senator.

“As our communities face high rates of poverty, barriers to healthcare access, and discrimination, empowering Latino/a/e LGBTQ+ voices is not just a mission — it’s a necessity,” said Mario Ceballos, President of HONOR PAC. “Barbara Lee shapes the policy and investments she champions by seeking the input of Californians who are regularly excluded from spaces of power. HONOR PAC is proud to stand shoulder to shoulder with Congresswoman Lee as she brings our voices to the U.S. Senate.”

The forum, hosted by Equality California, the LA LGBT Center, and Translatin@ Coalition, gathered leaders and organizations from across the state to listen to the leading U.S. Senate candidates’ priorities for addressing issues impacting LGBTQ+ communities. Lee, a longtime champion for the LGBTQ+ community, spoke on her agenda of universal healthcare, federally-funded community projects, affordable housing, and increased representation, issues central to HONOR PAC’s mission.

“The endorsement of HONOR PAC represents the ever-growing coalition of advocates working together to build a better California — one that includes historically disenfranchised voices, that guarantees medical, mental, and gender-affirming healthcare, that considers housing a human right,” said Congresswoman Lee. “I’m so proud to have such a powerful alliance of Latino/a/e LGBTQ+ voices behind me. In the Senate, I will be the megaphone for our movement and deliver the change we are collectively fighting for.”

HONOR PAC joins a statewide network of LGBTQ+ leaders and organizations supporting Lee’s record of progressive advocacy and action for LGBTQ+ Californians, including activist and former State Assemblyman Tom Ammiano, and the Bayard Rustin Coalition, an organization working to empower Black LGBTQ+ communities in the Bay Area.
