San Francisco Latinx Democratic Club endorses Barbara Lee

Latino leaders across the state are backing Lee in the race for U.S. Senate

SAN FRANCISCO, CA —  Today, the San Francisco Latinx Democratic Club (SFLDC) proudly declared their endorsement of Congresswoman Barbara Lee, a fierce advocate for change on issues impacting Latino communities, in California’s upcoming U.S. Senate election. SFLDC, the oldest and only Latino political organization in San Francisco, spoke in strong support of Lee’s progressive record.

“In a time where many issues for Latinos are on the line, immigration, healthcare, economic inequality – we need a Senator who will continue to fight boldly for our community’s needs,” said Kevin Ortiz, Co-President, San Francisco Latinx Democratic Club. “For her 34 years in elective office, Congresswoman Barbara Lee has done just that — by being a principled champion for progressive issues that impact the Latino community. We are confident she will continue to deliver for Latinos and the people as our next U.S. Senator.”

SFLDC joins the powerful number of Latino leaders and organizations across the state backing Lee’s candidacy because of her progressive legislative record and lens of lived experience, including iconic labor activist Dolores Huerta and Chispa, an organization representing young Latinos in Orange County.

“The San Francisco Latinx Democratic Club has tirelessly advocated to put the Latino community at the forefront of the conversation in San Francisco so that steep rates of housing insecurity, disproportionate health issues, and growing wage inequality are not an afterthought,” said Congresswoman Lee. “I’m honored to have the support of the powerful changemakers of SFLDC and I’ll continue to champion their fight in the U.S. Senate.”

Lee recently joined SFLDC for a visit to the Mission District in San Francisco to tour the vibrant business scene, meet with Latino and immigrant San Franciscans, and better understand the community’s challenges and priorities.
