Barbara Lee stakes out progressive standing in U.S. Senate run with endorsement from San Francisco Women’s Political Committee

Lee’s favorability among progressive organizations and advocates emphasized with endorsement from equity-focused NorCal PAC

SAN FRANCISCO, CA — Today, the San Francisco Women’s Political Committee (SFWPC) announced their support for Congresswoman Barbara Lee in her bid for the U.S. Senate, the latest in a series of endorsements from progressive organizations stemming from Lee’s extensive history of commitment to peace and equity, and policy that serves those goals.

“Congresswoman Lee’s critical intersectional lens and years of fearless advocacy has bent the national agenda on healthcare, women’s rights, education, climate change, and other essential issues towards justice,” said Denise Heitzenroder, SFWPC Co-President. “SFWPC is proud to endorse her campaign for U.S. Senate, and support her vision for a more diverse, equitable California.”

For over two decades, the SFWPC has been a preeminent advocate for intersectional feminism, gender equity, and racial justice, throwing weight behind candidates who are proven champions of those values. Long citing her lived experience as a guiding principle in her work, Representative Lee’s policy priorities and record closely align with that of the organization.

“My whole career, I’ve fought for my place in spaces of power, and fought to deliver change for people who are too often overlooked,” said Congressmember Lee. “The SFWPC is a multiracial, multigenerational coalition of women doing incredible work on the ground to elevate unheard voices and empower more leaders that reflect those experiences. It’s so meaningful to have their endorsement — together, we’ll bring a new and needed perspective to the U.S. Senate.”

The organization joins a groundswell of grassroots support for Rep. Lee’s campaign across the Golden State, including the Progressive Democrats of America, Wellstone Democratic Renewal Club, and the Culver City Democratic Club.
