Burbank and San Fernando-Area Representative Supports Lee’s Historic Campaign for Senate

OAKLAND, CA — California State Senator Caroline Menjivar, who represents Burbank and the Northern San Fernando Valley, has endorsed Congresswoman and leading progressive candidate for U.S. Senate Barbara Lee, the Lee campaign announced today.

“Barbara Lee is a champion for everyday people in California, a fighter who is not afraid to take on entrenched interests and corporations, and a leader we need in the Senate to fight for a more affordable and just country,” said Senator Menjivar. “As the representative of San Fernando High, which was forever changed by Barbara Lee’s bravery when she helped integrate the cheer team here, I am honored to endorse her for Senate and eager to partner with her to get things done to make life better for families in the North Valley and throughout California.”

First elected in 2022, Senator Menjivar is a lifelong San Fernando Valley resident, Marine Corps Veteran, Emergency Medical Technician, and a passionate advocate for the LGBTQ+ community. She has been a progressive champion in the State Senate since assuming office, fighting for better mental health services, environmental protection and affordability for working class Californians.

“The San Fernando Valley is my former home and has been an important part of my life story – it is an honor to not only have the support of the Valley’s representative, but for that support to come from such an inspiring young leader like Senator Menjivar means the world to me,” said Congresswoman Lee. “We need more dedicated progressives like Senator Menjivar in office to hold corporations accountable and fight back against the pervasive greed that makes our communities less affordable. I am honored to have her support in this race and eager to work with her closely to fight on behalf of all Californians.”
