Key Los Angeles-area Democratic club endorses Barbara Lee for U.S. Senate

Miracle Mile Democratic Club From Heart of Los Angeles Supports Leading Progressive Candidate Lee

LOS ANGELES, CA — In the first endorsement decided since the appointment of an interim Senator in California, members of the Miracle Mile Democratic Club voted Tuesday to formally endorse Congresswoman and leading progressive candidate for U.S. Senate Barbara Lee.

“Congresswoman Barbara Lee is the best choice for LA’s future, plain and simple,” said Miracle Mile Democratic Club President Mark R. Edwards. “If we want to solve the affordability crisis that is causing homelessness, or to tackle the existential climate crisis, or to protect our democracy from extremists, we need proven and effective progressive leadership in the Senate. Barbara Lee is the effective progressive leader we need and our members are very excited to endorse her campaign and work to help elect her next year.”

The Miracle Mile Democratic Club was founded in 2013 and is made up of members living in the Miracle Mile, Fairfax District, Mid-Wilshire, Hancock Park, Park La Brea, and Greater Wilshire neighborhoods of Los Angeles. The Club is officially chartered with the Los Angeles County Democratic Party and members play key leadership roles in civic life in Los Angeles.

“I am honored to have the support of the Miracle Mile Democratic Club,” said Congresswoman Lee. “These local leaders have helped advance progressive causes in Los Angeles like fighting for a living wage and I am very excited to work closely with them throughout this campaign, and then to deliver real progressive change to our neighborhoods. I’m running to make economic justice, climate justice, and racial justice priorities, and I am thankful to have grassroots progressive partners like the Miracle Mile Democratic Club in this important work.”

The Miracle Mile Democratic Club joins a growing progressive coalition backing Lee’s campaign. Lee also has the backing of Our Revolution – the largest grassroots-funded progressive political organization in the nation, the Working Families Party, Gen Z for Change, Alameda County Building and Construction Trades Council, California Legislative Black Caucus, the Congressional Black Caucus PAC, Feminist Majority PAC, Black Women Organized for Political Action PAC, Higher Heights for America, and a series of young-Democratic organizations, including the San Diego County Young Democrats, East Bay Young Democrats, and Latine Young Democrats of the East Bay.
