California State Senator Susan Talamantes Eggman endorses Congresswoman Barbara Lee for U.S. Senate

The Central Valley Senator becomes the latest to join Lee’s long list of Democratic supporters

SACRAMENTO, CA – Today, Congresswoman and U.S. Senate candidate Barbara Lee announced that her campaign has been endorsed by California State Senator Susan Talamantes Eggman.

Senator Talamantes Eggman’s endorsement follows that of California State Treasurer Fiona Ma and Congressman Ro Khanna, who both announced their support for Lee last week.

Talamantes Eggman has represented Central Valley based Senate District 5, which encompasses San Joaquin County and portions of Stanislaus County and Sacramento County, since 2020. She previously served in the State Assembly and prior to that was the first Latina elected to the Stockton City Council.

“I wholeheartedly endorse Barbara Lee for U.S. Senate,” said Talamantes Eggman. “Barbara’s been an important voice in advocating against food insecurity on the Agriculture, Rural Development, FDA Subcommittee, delivering much needed funding and food assistance programs that are critical to Central Valley families. What’s more, as social workers, Barbara and I share the value of service to our community and the belief that all of us deserve dignity and respect. She has spent her entire career fighting for these values, and I know she’ll continue that fight in the U.S. Senate.”

“I’m honored to have earned the trust and support of Senator Talamantes Eggman,” said Lee. “I will always fight to uplift our rural communities and ensure that every family, no matter where they are, has access to the resources and services they need to not only put food on the table and make ends meet, but to thrive. In the U.S. Senate, I will make sure everyone has a voice, including our neighbors in rural communities.”

Lee enters the race for U.S. Senate with a long and growing list of supporters, including Attorney General Rob Bonta, Controller Malia Cohen, State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tony Thurmond, State Senators Anna Caballero and Nancy Skinner, Assemblymembers Mia Bonta and Corey Jackson, Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, San Francisco Mayor London Breed, Oakland Mayor Sheng Thao, San Bernardino Mayor Helen Tran, Redlands Mayor Eddie Tejeda, Rialto Mayor Deborah Robertson, former Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf, Palm Desert Mayor Pro Tem Karina Quintanilla, Dolores Huerta, California Democratic Party Asian Pacific Islander Caucus Chair Deepa Sharma, and California Democratic Party Progressive Caucus Chair Amar Shergill, and California Democratic Party LGBTQ Caucus Co-Chair Tiffany Woods. Lee also has the backing of the Alameda County Building and Construction Trades Council, California Legislative Black Caucus, the Congressional Black Caucus PAC, and Feminist Majority PAC.
